School Advisory Committee (SAC)

School Advisory Committee (SAC)

The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a team of people representing various segments of the community – the principal, teachers, education support employees, students, parents, and other business and community citizens. A majority of the members of each school advisory council must be persons who are not employed by the school district. The SAC serves as a voice for school improvement by assisting the principal in preparing and evaluating the School Improvement Plan (SIP) and providing input on the school's budget. Council members representing teachers, education support employees, students, and parents are elected by their respective peer group, and business and community members are selected to ensure representation of the ethnic, racial, and economic community served by the school. The SAC plays a crucial role in fostering continuous improvement and ensuring that the school's decisions reflect the needs of all stakeholders.

Please contact the school for more information or if you have any questions regarding the School Advisory Council.

  • All SAC meetings will be held at 5:00 pm in the Media Center unless otherwise communicated.

    Principal’s Report (Announcements):

Tutoring will include 3-5 students this year.

Mrs. Hinton shared the enrollment challenges and that OCPS is down approximately 8,000 students. AES had a revised budget and is now 7 teachers less than we were at the beginning of the year. Some teachers were placed at other schools, some were not, and some teachers were moved. The teachers made quick adjustments to student placements, and the staff is pushing forward. We also lost 2 bilingual paraprofessionals. The threshold for a bilingual para is 10 families. This year we only had 6 for Haitian Creole, and only enough for 1 Spanish para. We have others on staff that can do translation if families need it.

Restructure of small group and intervention process. Our master schedule includes time for intervention and small group instruction. Mrs. Hinton shared the importance of the teacher pulling students into small group time for students to get what they need. Interventions is for students who may have a gap from earlier grade levels, this allows them to get what they need while our on-level students get enrichment or extension activities.

Mrs. Hinton shared the school survey needed to be completed. We need 20% of 786 families to be completed. We are currently at 11% completed. It closes on October 13th.
